Family First, Texas Pageants Second…

Crowning of QueenWell, tonight I better put all Texas pageant work aside and get busy making my two daughters their “Layton” tradition Christmas shirt!  I saw my daughter posted in facebook that they are looking forward to their “tacky Christmas” shirts.  I have been making them matching shirts for the past 20 years!  Yes, that’s a lot of shirts and sweatshirts- but it’s a lot of fun and they …expect one!  Even though my oldest (Kristen) is 26 and my youngest (Katherine)is 20, they love them!  I saved a lot of them but sadly most were lost in the 2011 Bastrop wildfires when we lost the home they grew up in.   The biggest task for them to do, is to decide together on which design I will make.  My biggest task is finding the shirts! Usually, I have to make several trips to Hobby Lobby, Michael’s or Walmart before I finally find the shirts in the sizes I need!  Shouldn’t be that difficult but it is!  Once done…let the fun begin!  I have so many notions and embellishments on hand and it is a project in the making – no real plan – just go for it and see what happens!  Every year they are happy as Santa’s Elves with their “tacky Christmas” shirt! I think my shirts aren’t “tacky” they are cute – a big difference!  I better get busy!  Hold on a minute…how about another picture from the recent Killeen Christmas Pageant…so many pretty ladies!
